President's Message
Do you remeber when LARC had a builder's group? We had twenty or thirty members who met on two Saturdays a month to build stuff. We started with code oscillators and ended up with a 40 meter QRP transceiver. We built twenty-five of 'em all together and they all worked. The thanks for that goes to Bob Dornan WA2EKU, Pat Lambert W0IPL, Earle Cate N0ISB, Rich Blackmore KB0ULB, Gary Walls KB0NNB, and some others I can't recall right now.
Because I think stuff ought to have a name, I suggested that we call it "Solder Sniffers." The name stuck.
Well, That was nearly ten years ago. Some of us think it is time to sniff the solder again. After the presentation by Leonard Leeper at this month's meeting we will be seeking your input as to your interest in building. your own electronics again. for those who don't know how to solder or identify parts we will teach that. If you, like me have hands too big and eyes too old to do surface mount parts, we will arrange their installation for you.
Just one more good reason not to miss the monthly meeting of the Longmont Amateur Radio Club. Third Wednesday at the Clover Building at the Boulder County Fairgrounds 7 PM.
