The Obsticales
You said it straight — “my website looks like a five-year-old fucking made it,” and right now, you're not showing up for anything landscaping-related when people actually go looking. You've got people you’ve done work for, but there’s zero system in place to turn those jobs into repeat business or referrals — nothing bringing them back, no automation, no follow-up. You're paying $700 a month to Angi just to compete with five or six other contractors every time a lead comes in — and the second you stop paying, it’s gone. No momentum, no return, just money burned. Meanwhile, you’re stepping into a space where the top players are dropping thousands monthly on Google and social just to stay in front. You’re new — they’ve had years, even decades, to build trust with Google. We have a mountain in front of us — but it’s one I've climbed before if we move with purpose, intention, & a truckload of website content.
Problem-Solution Breakdown
Problem #1: “My website looks like a five-year-old made it.”
The new site is going to be clean, fast, & most importantly properly represent your company.
Here's the layout:
Home Page
This is the first impression. Clean, sharp, straight to the point. I’m not trying to overload it — I’m making it visual and trust-driven. We hit them with what you do, where you work, and why you’re not just another guy with a truck. We’ll start with an epic hero section, most likely with that image of the truck, good high-level overview of the business, who you're targeting, the logo & the business name, then it will drop into the main services you offer, next it will drop into your about section, then some optimal FAQs, then a project slider showcasing the before & afters, next will be the testimonials from Google & Angie's List tied to actual project pages and finally land into a clear call to action to fill out a form to schedule a time for you to stop by, evaluate & provide an estimate.
About Page
I’m telling your story. The part about your dad, horticulture school, how he passed, and how you started the business in his name — that’s what builds trust. That’s what sets you apart from all the faceless contractors out there. It gives people something to connect with before they even meet you. We're going to write it right, make it real, and place it where people actually read it.
Services Page
This is where we break it all down — patios, plant installs, excavation, design, and anything else you're offering now or planning for spring. I’m not listing things just to look busy. Each service will have its own section, with descriptions written in a way that hits keywords but still sounds human. I’ll structure it so people know what you do, what they can expect, and how to get started.
Project Gallery / Our Work Page
You said you’ve got tons of photos. I’m going to organize them into categories — patios, landscaping, excavation — and create individual project entries with before/afters, descriptions, and pair them with your client quotes. This is where we let the work speak for itself. The gallery won’t just be a dump of photos — it’ll show depth and consistency & another great way to rank for content which I'll go into more depth when covering the solution to your second problem's solution.
Contact Page
Simple, functional, frictionless. I’m putting in click-to-call, click-to-text, and a form that routes directly to your email & an optional Google Drive integration to create a client folder with all their info & will sync them immediately to your Google contacts so you never lose their name. While complex for me, it will make you & clients' interactions with you simple & smooth like butter.
Location tied to Service Pages & the Service Area Pages.
(This is the most important one)
Which now brings us to the second problem to tackle..
Problem #2: Not showing up for anything landscaping-related when people go looking.
That’s exactly what the service area system is built to do & to be clear I’m not just listing towns on a page — I’m building out 40 individual pages, one for every city, town, and village you want to target in Dutchess County. And from those 40, I’m generating six service-specific pages per location — so now we’re talking 240 pages total, each one built to hit exactly what people are searching for in that area. “Patio installation in Beacon,” “landscape design in Fishkill,” “excavation in Wappingers Falls” — you're not just showing up for “landscaping,” you're showing up for everything you offer, everywhere you work.
which now brings us to...
Problem #3: Other Companies have had years to create content.
Which the location-specific service pages also solve. As one important point is that once it's built, we can add more service terms and it will auto-generate 40 new pages with each new term & area of specialty that Cruger Contracting brings to the table out to all the different areas inside of Dutchess County. This system will tell Google exactly who you are, what you do, and where you do it & the project pages will tie in to prove it as Google loves proof & conveniently people love proof too.
This is how we outproduce the guys who have been creating content for 5-10 years longer than you but are only writing 5 blogs a week (which we can do as well but won't need it to as high of a degree).
Problem #4: No System For Previous Clientele
You’ve already got the trust — jobs completed, clients happy — but without a system to keep those relationships warm, it all just goes cold. No follow-up, no re-engagement, no referrals. And every time that happens, you’re leaving easy money on the table. That’s where the backend comes in. Wix has a built-in CRM that we’re hooking you into — it tracks leads, contacts, and lets us run email marketing campaigns directly to your past clients. So when fall rolls around, you’re not blasting Instagram and hoping someone bites — you’re sending a targeted email to the exact people who’ve already paid you once, offering cleanups, pruning, snow removal, or whatever’s coming up.
This is also where the payment system ties in. We’ll have clients able to book recurring maintenance plans — and pay for them right through the site — with options like Apple Pay, Google Pay, card, PayPal, and even “Pay Later.” So now you're not just chasing seasonal work — you’ve got subscription-style income coming in, backed by automation, and driven by a CRM that actually keeps your pipeline alive.
Problem #5: “The second you stop paying Angi, it’s gone.”
It is a Trap — You are 100% right. Shelling out $700 a month to compete against five or six other guys for every single lead sucks by itself but on top of that you’re not building anything long-term & even worse the moment you stop paying, the calls stop coming, you’re just renting attention for a really high price. No brand lift, no search ranking, no residual benefit. It's just a monthly bill with no asset behind it.
We flip that model completely. Instead of you paying to play every month, we’re building an asset that you own. The website structure, the service area network, the project pages — they’re all designed to rank on their own and keep ranking over time. Add to that a fully verified and optimized Google Business profile, boosted with directory listings and real reviews to go along with it, and you’re not just “visible” — you’re everywhere a customer would look when they’re ready to hire.
Every piece of content we build stacks — it doesn’t disappear when you stop paying. It builds trust, increases your online presence, and keeps traffic coming in.
The Step By Step Process
Step 1: Gathering Essentials
Being that you have a Google Workspace is already perfect, this is where we will organize all of the content we are going to put on your page. All you'll have to do here is create a folder & share it with me & I'll create an organized structure for all of your information to go into.
For example:
Folder 1 - Projects
Project 1
Before
Progress
After
Project 2
(If you have an idea of how many projects you've done I'll pre-create all the project folders so that you're not having to create new folders constantly)
Inside these project folders I'll have a preset form doc where you could fill out so that you can give a brief project overview, services provided & the area the job was located in as well. (good for local SEO)
I don't expect you to be able to do this all in 1 day so I'll set it for you to throw info in over time. Which then brings me to the second phase while you're doing that.
Step 2: Building the website structure.
I'll have enough to go off of in order to design the structure & brand based on your fonts, color scheme & services. I'll reuse your content on the other website as well to create your about page which we can expand on. Then when you have all the content in the drive I'll take it all & put it into place on the website.
Step 3: Domain Transfer
This comes after the first parts of the website are built, reviewed & approved by you. I'll log into the Squarespace account & unlock the domain & transfer it over to WIX & reconfigure your email so that it's still operational without Squarespace.
The process will take roughly 3 days but I'll have it pointed over so that the new site will start showing instead of the old one.
Step 4. The First Launch
Site goes live. We aren't done building but we need Google to see your site & crawl it.
Step 5. Google & Business Listings
Important note is that your Google Business is already verified & live right now (definitely will need some updates) but I'll be able to get that synced directly to the website. The Google Business is great, but having listings on Apple Maps & 20+ other directories are essential to ranking high.
We are gonna start with 6 & we then will go through options for your ongoing site SEO, website content creation, maintenance, social media etc.
Step 6: Payment Integration
I'll send you a link to complete where you'll give up business info & some information so the legal department at WIX approves you so your clients can pay, and subscribe to services directly from the site. No more invoicing headaches for you or your clients. It’s streamlined — with every payment provider such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, card, PayPal, even Pay Later options. They click, they pay, you get paid.
Now the door for you to get recurring income through seasonal or monthly maintenance packages is fully open.
Step 7: Service Area Launch
I'll roll out all 40 town-specific pages across Dutchess County, localized, and tailored to your business. (These pages will look very similar to the home page, just location specific.)
Then I layer in the six core services for every location: Creating 240 dynamic yet location-specific landing pages working 24/7 for your organic SEO.
Timeline
I project that getting to Step 6 will take at most 4 Weeks & getting to Step 7 1 month to a month & a half. (This is a highball projection as I choose to under promise & over deliver so this may take half the time.)
Important Considerations
Business Email
Having access to this email will make things much smoother as when it comes to business listings, domain transfers etc. Will require a lot of email verifications. I also like to get clients pre-set up inside of their website dashboard.
Training & Walkthroughs
I'm gonna give you a run through on the website dashboard so you know where to look when someone submits a form etc & will be available if you run into any issues or need help.
Website App
You're gonna have an app that you'll download to get notifications, see payments etc.
Website Payment Plan
Below I have the price quote for you to review & the payment plan link to move forward. Once you check out I will begin at step 1 till completion & you will have 6 weekly payments that will add up to the total cost of the website which will end around the same time as my projection.
Final Statements
James, thank you for your time. If you have any questions, concerns or thoughts let me know. I'm happy to help & I look forward to building the digital end of Cruger Contracting.
